SERVICE
4 reasons people choose our Selling Service
Sell close to dealer market prices
Instead of a single appraisal from one buyback shop, your price is set by bidding among dealers from all over Japan. With no buyer's profit taken out, your sale price comes close to the true market price.
A flat ¥40,000 fee, whatever the price
Our agency fee is a flat ¥40,000 (excl. tax), no matter how high or low the winning bid. We also clearly break down the amount you'll receive.
Veteran industry staff
Staff with over 30 years in the auto industry advise you on everything from when to list your car to setting a reserve price.
Transport to the venue arranged
We arrange transport from your home to the auction venue, so you don't need to bring the car in yourself.
COMPARISON
How we differ from buyback shops and dealer trade-ins
We do not buy cars ourselves. We list your car at dealer-only auctions and let dealers across Japan compete for it.
| Comparison | STREMA (Selling Service)Us | Car buyback shop | Dealer trade-in |
|---|---|---|---|
| How the price is set | Nationwide bids set the price Your sale price is that day's real market price, set by bidding | The shop's own buyback price You negotiate from the one figure they offer | Bundled with a new car discount Hard to tell what the trade-in alone is worth |
| Fees | Flat ¥40,000 (excl. tax) The fee stays the same, whatever the winning bid | Looks free, but built in The shop's profit is included in the offer | Built into the trade-in value Adjusted together with the discount terms |
| Number of buyers | Thousands of dealers bid nationwide Competing bids push the price up | Just that one shop You're deciding on one shop's appraisal alone | Just that one dealer You have to compare with other companies yourself |
| Transparency | Inspection sheet & bid results shown See the auction grade, repair history, and winning bid without edits | Appraisal breakdown kept private You usually aren't told the resale price either | Trade-in basis kept private The trade-in and discount aren't broken out separately |
| Best for | People who want to sell at market price | People who need cash as fast as possible | People who want to let go of their car when buying a new one |

SUPPORT
Support after listing and sale
We tell you in advance what can happen when selling, such as a no sale or a buyer claim.
Your car may not sell
If bidding doesn't reach your reserve price, the result is no sale. In that case, you only pay the listing fee and the actual transport cost, and we'll talk with you about relisting or adjusting the price.
We handle claims after the sale
If the winning buyer raises a claim, we act as your point of contact, negotiate with the venue and the winning dealer, and report back on how it was handled and the outcome.
Prices may fall short of expectations
Our appraisal is an estimate based on recent winning bids. If the market dips, we'll never push you to go through with a sale.
FAQ
Selling Service FAQ
Q. Do I need to bring my car to the auction venue?
No. We arrange transport with pickup from your home, so there's no need to visit the venue. Everything, including exchanging documents, is handled online and by mail.
Q. When will I receive the sale proceeds?
After the sale is completed, once the paperwork such as the registration transfer and the vehicle handover are done, we pay you the sale proceeds minus the ¥44,000 (incl. tax) agency fee and other costs.
Q. How long does it take from listing to payment?
It usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks from your listing request to the auction, and about 3 to 4 weeks until payment, including paperwork and handover after the sale. Timing may vary with the venue's auction schedule.
Q. Can I list a car with repair history?
Yes. The venue's inspection always uncovers repair history and defects, so we disclose them before listing. Once disclosed, the car is given an auction grade with that in mind, and dealers bid on that basis.
